First Female Chairman of the Board Elected

PLANT CITY, Fla. (April 12, 2017) – Sandee Parke Sytsma was elected chairman of the Florida Strawberry Festival’s board of directors in last night’s monthly meeting.

Beef Breed Show Winners Chosen

The Florida Strawberry Festival awarded the winners of its annual beef breed show this afternoon in the Patterson Co. Livestock Arena.

Blair Buchanon won All Breeds Grand Champion Heifer, and Madi Conrad won All Breeds Reserve Grand Champion Heifer. Makayla Williamson won All Breeds Grand Champion Bull, and Julia Norman won All Breeds Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Winner declared in Strawberry Mashed Potato Pie Eating Contest

The Florida Strawberry Festival announced today the winner of its Strawberry Mashed Potato Pie Eating Contest that took place this afternoon in the Stingray Chevrolet Entertainment Tent.

Carsten Henning from Frankfurt, Germany won the event where each contestant eats a pie plate of garlic mashed potatoes adorned with strawberry glaze and fresh strawberries. The contestant who eats everything on the plate most quickly is declared the winner.

Grand champion steer chosen

The grand champion at the Florida Strawberry Festival’s Mosaic Youth Steer Show was chosen last night at the Patterson Co. Livestock Arena in the Grimes Family Agricultural Center.

Megan Todd, a member of the Plant City FFA Chapter, exhibited the overall grand champion steer, and Clayton Brock, a member of the Durant FFA Chapter, exhibited the overall reserve grand champion steer.
